"WAMKEKELEKILE - Welcome Back" was nominated for “Best Director” and “Best 24 Minute film” at the AFDA 2008 Awards. The film was awarded the “Board of Executives Award for Filmmaking Excellence.” The film is the first recipient of the prestigious award ever.

The film has been nominated for an Academy AwardC (OSCAR) in the category Best Foreign Student Film. Wamkelekile will be competing against the best film schools from Europe, China, Australia, Russia and the rest of the world. The heads of department would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the friends and family who have supported them in them making of this magical film.

"WAMKELEKILE - Welcome Back" has been accepted in numerous film festivals including the prestigious Claremont Ferrand Short Film Festival in France, the Africa-In-Motion Film Festival in England, International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands amongst other film festivals.

The South African National Film and Video Foundation has nominated the film for a SAFTA (South African Film and Television Award), one of the nations most prestigious awards in the industry, in the category for Best Student Film. Winners will be announced on the 20th of February.
